Systems Engineer

Full-Time

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, integrating, and managing complex systems across their full lifecycle — from conception and design through testing, deployment, operation, maintenance, and eventual decommissioning. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all subsystems work together seamlessly to meet mission and business requirements.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading and contributing to systems engineering efforts across the entire system lifecycle: conception, design and development, testing, production, deployment, operation, maintenance & support, and decommissioning.
  • Defining and documenting system requirements, architectures, and interfaces.
  • Developing system models, diagrams, and technical specifications to guide design and integration.
  • Conducting trade studies, risk assessments, and performance analyses to ensure optimal system solutions.
  • Supporting integration and verification activities, including testing and validation.
  • Collaborating with hardware, software, and operations teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Preparing and presenting technical documentation, briefings, and reports to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring systems comply with security, reliability, and operational standards.

Skills you must have:

  • Demonstrated experience working with engineering systems throughout their lifecycle (concept through decommissioning).
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, requirements analysis, and integration practices.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure systems are designed, tested, and delivered successfully.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions.
  • Confidence in presenting system designs, trade studies, and progress to leadership and external partners.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience with systems modeling tools (e.g., SysML, UML, MATLAB/Simulink). Familiarity with cloud, networking, and security architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with integration and test of complex systems.
  • Knowledge of configuration management and system lifecycle documentation practices.
  • Ability to balance technical detail with strategic program objectives.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (Master’s a plus).
  • 7+ years of relevant systems engineering experience.
  • Experience with system lifecycle processes (design, development, testing, deployment, sustainment, decommissioning).
  • Familiarity with DoD, IC, or government contracting environments preferred. Active security clearance is strongly desired (TS/SCI with poly preferred depending on program requirements).
